Almost every country in the world encourages it’s citizens to learn English. And, because of that insistence, we hear English spoken with various accents.
But, nothing is more frustrating that listening to someone speak English with such a heavy accent that their English is barely recognizable. This is why English Teachers such as myself teach how to SPEAK English very well.
You see, SPEAKING English very well must be taught just as learning to sing very well. The ability to correctly pronounce every spoken English word takes practice and with some words, it takes learning how to speak such words correctly.
And, this is especially true when learning to speak English words for any given profession (such as Law or Medicine or Engineering). Every profession has their own list of words that are used within that profession. And, Professionals who do not speak English as their primary language may need to learn how to say those difficult English sounding words in English.
My Students are mostly professionals who want their English spoken so clear that it is easily understood the first time they speak.
Not everyone who wants to learn English has the dedication to learn how to SPEAK English very well. Some people are just happy with just being able to hold a conversation in English – no matter how their English sounds
