I’ve been looking around the internet and I have been seeing different English groups, different English pages, and people posting English information. I am seeing very elementary, very low-level English. Some of the questions are like, “I’m from so-and-so country. What do you know about my country?” That’s a very pleasant way of talking. Very nice statement to be made. And I guess it’s good for Introductory English to see exactly what a person knows and how a person can spell and if a person can articulate their point about any particular country.
But as you know, the English that I want to show and share with you is how to SPEAK English, not how to write, not how to listen, not how to read, but how to SPEAK English. Because when it comes down to it, speaking English is where you’re going to make your connection. Now you will, without a doubt, send emails using English. You will write English. And I do address that at certain times, to people who are very interested in writing English very well. But the specialty of what I give to anyone is how to SPEAK English very clear and very well. Because when you’re spoken, English is clear, initially native English speakers appreciate you for being able to say what you want to say without confusion, without having to repeat it many times, without it being misunderstood or sounding bad. No one wants to be looked down on.
No one wants to be looked at with a strange face because they’re sounding strange when they speak English. And this happens many times to people who have very strong accents and whose words are not clear. It is not too pleasant. And because it’s not pleasant for those that who listening to whoever is speaking unpleasant-sounding English. People tend to turn them off. They don’t give them the acceptance that you would give to maybe an educated lawyer or educated doctor or anyone that speaks English very good and very well.
So, my whole point is to see that someone like yourself who speaks English as a second language, someone like yourself, SPEAKS English clearly. Someone like you who wants to sound very good the first time, not having to repeat yourself many times. Someone like you, who has studied English for many years, but know that your English pronunciation and spoken English are not exactly what you want. That is why I connect with people like you to help you to smooth out your accent and to take your English to a level that you will always appreciate when you hear yourself and when someone else hears you SPEAK English as well.
